Website Policy - Cookies

What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that is downloaded onto ‘terminal equipment’ (eg a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone) when the user accesses a website. It allows the website to recognise that user’s device and store some information about the user’s preferences or past actions. Most of the websites in the world use cookies.

What cookies are used on the site?
Cookies are not directly used on the website. However, the website is organised so that you can order jams, marmalades and chutneys on-line. If you decide to order any of our preserves on-line we use PayPal to process your order. Once you place an order you enter the PayPal site so that your details and payments can be securely taken. To enable this to happen PayPal will place cookies on your device.

How do I turn off cookies?
For the websites that you visit if would prefer not to accept cookies on your computer you can change the settings of your browser, but each browser has its own specific settings. If you click on the website link below you will be taken to a page that shows you, in an easy pictorial way, how to adjust your browser settings to allow and disallow cookies. The following browers are covered: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer.

Please note that if you turn off cookies or change your settings, some website features may not work correctly eg ordering through PayPal.

      Visitor Information
Every computer connected to the internet is provided with a unique (domain) name and an IP (Internet Protocol) address. Moonrake Preserves does not host the website, this is done by a company called LCN. When a visitor comes to the website the LCN servers log the visit. Over a period of time it is possible for us to log into the LCN portal to see how many visitors have come to the website, how long they have stayed, which pages they have visited and what part of the world they have come from. This is useful information in that it gives statistical information about which pages are the most popular. As no personal user information is used on the website it is very unlikely that any individual's personal details can be tracked after visiting the site. The information that is collected by the LCN servers stays within the company on their servers.

Our website does contain links to other websites which we believe are safe to use. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over these external website(s). As such we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites.
